Description
- Each Southern Star – Te Tonga Whetu o te Rangi is made of pure brass, crafted, lacquered and baked, then assembled, presented and distributed by volunteers.
- The star attaches to clothing with a classic brass pin and brass stopper with rubber inside to hold it secure.
- Total dimensions from tip of the star to bottom of the stopper are 73mm. The dimensions of the star, point to point are 38mm x 38mm.
- Your star will arrive in a bespoke, black box complete with a beautiful fold-out story of its creation and the Art of Remembrance project
- Every star is made from raw brass, only gently polished individually to retain its gentle glow. This means that every star is unique and slight imperfections are part of its story.
- There are no fewer than 27 processes, the majority done by volunteers, to get your Southern Star – Te Tonga Whetu o te Rangi to you! A lot of love goes into every star – so we thank you kindly for your support.
- Our volunteers will send your star within 5 working days of receipt of payment. It is possible that there may be a delay of a few days as we work hard to meet your order deadline.
- Each artwork is a little different from the next, with natural variations in colour. Also, as the brass is natural (not highly polished), it may have imperfections which are part of its nature and part of its story and authenticity.
- Donations without purchase are made to the New Zealand registered charity, Friends of St David’s Trust, and are tax deductible. Under New Zealand law, purchases of the star are not donations.
- Artworks broken during delivery can be returned, at the purchaser’s cost, and replaced at the cost of the Friends of St David’s Trust.
- Provenance: each Southern Star – Te Tonga Whetu o te Rangi piece is hand stamped by the artist in the traditional manner, and has its own individual code etched verso.
- Presentation: each star comes in its own special presentation box together with foldout story of its creation and the Art of Remembrance project
- How to wear it: affix it to your lapel, jacket or shirt. Naturally if the garment is very fragile we suggest you select another garment for the day!
- How to look after it: your star is quite robust for normal use. However, it is hand-made so please look after it carefully. The surface is protected by a durable lacquer. To clean, use only warm soapy water.
